Background

NHS Sussex is using more digital technology and information to help join-up our services in a way that will transform people’s experience of health and care services.

Our ambition is for our people and communities to be able to:

  • use high-quality digital and data technologies, such as NHS App and My Health and Care Record, that supports them to live healthier lives, and manage their health and wellbeing;
  • have one shared care record so that they can communicate and plan with those involved in their care, using real-time health data which is secure; and,
  • benefit from health and care professionals securely sharing data to better plan and deliver services across Sussex that meets the needs of our population.

You can find out more about how we plan to improve the use of digital technology and information in the Plan for our Population.

You can also watch our film about joining-up health and care services through digital technology.

Digital and Data People's Panel

The Digital and Data People’s Panel has been set up to ensure that the views and needs of our people and communities are the foundations on which we build and develop digital and data services.

17 people have been recruited from a range of backgrounds and experiences to form the Digital and Data People’s Panel, including:

  • people with a lived experience of physical and mental health conditions
  • a carer
  • people who are blind or visually impaired
  • people who do not speak English as their first language
  • people who are less digitally enabled as well as people who have significant experience of digital technology
  • and people from ethnically diverse communities.

A Community Ambassador, and partners from Age UK, 4Sight, Thomas Pocklington Trust, Possability People, and Healthwatch Sussex will also join the Panel.

The People’s Panel will launch on 7th November 2023 - training took place on 10th October 2023, and the Panel will run for 12 months.
