Brighton & Hove City Council and the local NHS (Brighton & Hove Clinical Commissioning Group) are currently reviewing the way we provide accommodation and support services at Shore House, Sanctuary Star and Route One, to help shape and improve these services for the future.

We want to hear from former and current residents, as well as staff, of mental health supported housing about how they have found these services, including what has worked well, and what we can change and improve on in the future. The feedback, experiences and views that are shared will help to inform and shape future mental health supported housing services for the city.

What are mental health supported housing services?

The mental health supported housing services offer a range of accommodation with different levels of support for people with mental health needs; from high, complex support needs to low support. Higher levels of support are provided to those who need it with the aim of supporting people to decrease support and move into lower support when they are able to do so. The aim of these services is to support independence while providing a safe and protected environment. The services are not permanent, instead they provide support to individuals to move on to more independent living opportunities within approximately two years.

Why do we want to hear from residents and staff about these services?

Three of these service contracts are due to come to an end and we therefore need to think about how we would like these services or similar services to be funded going forward. Brighton & Hove City Council and NHS Brighton & Hove Clinical Commissioning Group are currently reviewing these services to support with these decisions.

The current Brighton & Hove mental health supported housing services that are being reviewed are:

  • Shore House; accommodation with high level, intensive support
  • Sanctuary Star; accommodation with medium level support
  • Route One; accommodation with low level support

How can you help shape these services in the future?

We want to hear from former and current residents of these services, and staff and carers too, on how you found using these services, what has worked well, and what we can improve on in the future. Please share your experiences and views through our residents survey and our staff survey too.
